I was only 8 when the park closed in 87 so I don't have nearly as many memories as others, but growing up in Westport we drove by the park all the time. I'd constantly bug my parents to let me ride the yellow slide and play games.

My parents went on their first day at Lincoln Park and played mini golf.

My best friend's grandfather would go all the time with his wife to use the skating rink and bowling alley.

I remember it reopening and how happy I was. And I remember it closing and the heartbreak of watching it being dismantled and then burned to the ground by stupid kids just having to play with fire.

I went today and shot photos and videos and I can't believe how horrible it looks.

I drive by everyday on my way to work and look at the Comet wondering if it will be the last time I ever see that coaster.

Thank you for preserving it with this site.

The photos I took today are here if anyone would like to see them.

I`m 41 now and when i was a teenager that park was the place to be. I still talk about the first roller coaster ride i have ever took and it was there at lincon park.
Boy time is just going by as we stand still and wish time could turn back.

I spent many days at the park and rode the coaster many times. It was a great place, I miss it!

My parents took my sibings and i to Lincoln Park every summer when I was growing up. I could't wait until I was tall enough to ride the Comet and when I was 10 I took my first rollercoaster ride with my Dad. My Mom wasn't into rides but she loved to go to Lincoln Park for some favish from the food court. It was thick, brown and full of fava beans. I've never seen it served anywhere else. Sooooooo many good memories! GREAT website! Thank you!

Hi,

Miss the old Lincoln Park. I was an employee there in the late 70's early 80's. Alot of good memories.

I grew up in Swansea and our family would go to the park every summer until we moved to TN in 1978. Glad I found this website. If money was no issue, I would buy the land from these condo developers(let them build somewhere else), restore the Comet, and rebuild the whole darn park as close to the way it was!

Oh I can remember, even though it only closed when I was 17 this park very well. We only lived just up the street from it. I remember my friends and I would take a walks there. I remember my friends birthday party at the roller rink that it had, and me coming home to my own skates. or playing bowling. I remember as you first walked in there was this ride, can't remember it's name now, that people would stand up and go really fast. Now adays kids would think the park we grew up with was too old fashioned...me I like it and miss it.
