Truthfully, there is nothing left. The park was never connected to the town's sewer system and consequently had to maintain its own system. Recently, vandals have stolen all of the manhole covers to sell as scrap metal and it is extrememly dangerous just to walk amoung the trees where the misdway and Kiddieland once were. This is true after a series of visits to video what's left in the fall of 2011.

yep still here.... stilll keeping an eye on things (though not as closely as I did)
Not supprised about the collapse... its been a couple months since I was last there, and have a hard time watchin things decay. On the bright side, I am an ACE member (American Coaster Enthusiasts www.aceonline.org), and the preservation conference next summer is at Little A-Merrick-A .. needless to say I will be asking about their plans to do the replica (they did a full site survey about 10 years back) ... and have the trains too ..... so yes still here :)

Hey Pete,

Wondering if you are still around now that it is 2011. I just started up my college career at Umass Dartmouth. I discovered the park one day when I was driving down route 6 because I saw that I thought was a wooden coaster. Me, being the history interested person I am, wanted to look into it more so I drove around to find a way in. Luckily the back gate was open and I was in. I became fascinated with what is left of the park. At first I had no clue of the history behind it, but my friend told me his mom use to go here when she was younger. I have literally gone on every page on this site, looked through the whole Flickr gallery, and gained so much knowledge that I have fallen in love with it now, and what it use to be. I can provide you with more recent pictures if you would like. To give a brief, but sad update, another part of the comet has collapsed. The hill, that is after the turn above the station, next to the parking lot, has collapsed. I am guessing it did when the small hurricane ripped through here a couple months ago. If I had the money to, I would restore this park in a heartbeat. If you could please contact me by email or phone, I would appreciate it. Email - mkernz22@aim.com or cell phone - 774-222-0994.

Thanks,
Mike

Back in the mid to late 70's, about 20 of us, male and female, would trek down from Brockton just to ride the dodge 'ems. We'd have our turn then get back in line to wait for another ride. Also loved the wooden roller coaster. You can keep all those new metal "Superman" style roller coasters. They're just not the same. But now, just like Paragon Park and Revere Beach Amusement Park, just a faded memory. Such a shame.

I grew up right around the corner from Lincoln Park in westport - within walking distance - knew it like the back of my hand - after it closed we would walk around (became friends with the Security guard) and just look at all the empty rides and buildings - it was a sad sight - I hate driving by there still. What a shame it was such a great place to have fun and will always have fond memories of Lincoln Park. At this rate I'm just waiting for the Comet to just collapse from age - it just lingers there year after year.

Does anyone know when Buddy Holly performed at the Park and any other performers that performed there - that is real cool that JFK, Buddy Holly and the Stooges were right down the street from me - so to speak !!!

[...] Urban exploration is a new hobby here at the Turner house. I’ll leave it at that. We took Lily on her first (and at this age – probably her only) urban exploration trip to the abandoned Lincoln Park, which used to be a very lively amusement park in Dartmouth, MA. All that remains now are the remnants of "The Rocket" rollercoaster (see picture) and a few small buildings. Read about its history here. [...]

I worked at the park off and on from 1978 until 1987. In the winters I would work for Dominic in the paint shop and in the summers I would run rides for Manny or games for Slim. My band used to rehearse in the old bowling alley after it was converted to the arcade. It was a great place to work and I have a lot of great memories. It's sad to see what has happened since it closed. Even after all these years, it was still my favorite place to work.
