NEWS Flash

Just to let everybody know. There are plans in the works by the owners to do an Open House BEFORE the heavy Construction/destruction begins.
This will be open to the public. Currently due to insurance reasons there are no unsupervised visits allowed

    Do you know if, when they allow the public in, they will allow people to “take home” any remnants of the park? I’m sure with all the fires there is not much good left, but perhaps there may be some interesting things among the ruins(some old signs, etc…). It would be cool to have a piece of Lincoln park so to speak.

    Any word yet on when the open house will be? I live out of state now but i really want to be there for that!

    No word yet, I sent a request along for a ballpark estimate, but have yet to get a response.
    anything this year next year winter spring summer or fall …. anything, but no.

    Hello,

    I would love to attend the open house. Who wants to sift through old remnants? I believe there are a few of us who would be happy to come home with a piece of the Comet or better yet something like an old sign that will only be tossed away like the rest of the park.

    I am happy to have found this site. It was the search for information on the Comet that brought me here. After a bit of thought, if it were not for Lincoln Park I would not be here at all.
    My Dad was in the Navy and met my Mom at the Roller Rink. She was quite the skater. He like all the service men came up from New London Conn to see the ladies.

    Many more stories to share. Glad to be here!

    There is honestly not that much left to even take home. I’ve been going and taking photos and I did take very small things home with me. Carpeting from the mini golf holes, a piece of wood from the German Carousel fence, paint chips in different colors from the Comet, small fragments of wood from the Comet.

    There are no signs left except a very badly damaged Speedway sign. Everything else has been destroyed, taken or is decayed beyond recognition.

    Anyone know what happened to the big COASTER sign that was once on the Comet?
